Katherine Castaneda,

Legal Nurse Consultant

Katherine Castaneda is the founder and owner of ikan Legal Solutions, LLC. Katherine is a professional Registered Nurse who graduated from the Accelerated Program for Nursing from the University of Miami. She has a history of extensive medical knowledge and experiences due to her strong clinical background as well as education. With over 12 years of experience, she was able to solidify her specialty in Pediatrics, while working at different teaching and research hospitals, which include Jackson Memorial Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and UCSF Medical Center. However, Katherine did not limit herself as she also has worked with the Young Adult and Adult population. Katherine is a skilled nurse whose clinical background includes, but is not limited to  NICU, Transplant Surgical Unit, Hematology/Oncology, Adolescent Care, PICU, Medical/Surgical Unit, Pediatric Transitional Cardiac Unit , PACU, and Quality Management.

Katherine’s experience working for major healthcare companies ,as well as onsite trainings at hospitals on Electronic Medical Records, have allowed her to become proficient in performing detailed, accurate and professional medical record reviews and audits. In addition to this, she has been able to become an expert in what is considered to be proper documentation for any type of medical record, including hospitals. More recently, Katherine has also become trained in medical coding. With this knowledge, she is able to point out to an attorney with more clarity where failure to have treated a patient correctly failed, as improper coding can lead to medical negligence or greater harm.

Katherine’s desire to become a part of the legal team is evident in that she successfully completed a legal nurse consulting course through Florida International University.

As a legal nurse consultant, Katherine can provide a number of services to attorneys, as well as an advantageous and efficient alternative to costly Medical Experts. Katherine will work with the legal teams to help them gain a deeper understanding about the Standards of Care, the healthcare environment as well as decide the nature of injuries as they pertain to Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, amongst others.
